Dov Rohan

Father, Hood River New School Teacher, Mitchell Point Summer Camp Counselor / Director / Co-Owner

“I love seeing the joy on the faces of youth learning and exploring in the outdoors! Giving the right amount of instruction followed by time to question, experiment, and search for their own answers makes teaching at this camp a dream. I wholeheartedly believe that children learn best hands-on and in a natural environment surrounded by peers of different ages. By participating in the playful group challenges our campers face daily, they learn many vital life skills such as working in teams, positive communication, cooperation, compromise, and patience.” -Dov Rohan

Dov grew up in Santa Cruz, California and after graduating with a B.S. in Physics from Cal Poly, SLO worked on ocean physics research in Avila Bay, CA for a two years. Traveling the world soon after and working as a scuba diving instructor afforded him the opportunity to work with a diverse group of people and absorb many cultures. His journey continued as he explored many areas of study including: music production, cultivation, construction, Ayurveda health counselor training, Jyotish, outdoor education, middle school teaching, and most recently parenting. Dov and Mary Hunter were looking for a place to raise their soon to be children and found the property in Hood River, OR. They moved here to start a family. Now, as their two young children, Griffin Bear and Hannah Marie, grow and explore this area, they are excited to open up their property to the greater community in hopes of sharing the love they have for the natural environment. They plan to host Mitchell Point Summer Camp for many more years to come.

Middle School PE Teacher, Mitchell Point Summer Camp Counselor

Hi, my name is Audrey Moore. I am very excited to be joining the Mitchell Point Summer Camp Staff for the summer of 2024! I am a PE Teacher at The Dalles Middle School and I am finishing up my masters degree in Middle School Science Education! I grew up in East Wenatchee, Washington where I learned how to ski, hike, backpack, and rock climb at a young age. These activities have helped me learn, grow, and gain some of the best experiences imaginable. I am extremely passionate about the outdoors and outdoor education. I have two years of experience working at a summer camp as the lead challenge course facilitator and a year of experience working as a student manager for the Central Washington University climbing wall. In addition, I have taught high school outdoor recreation where I incorporated classroom learning with hands on experiences to encourage students to pursue lifelong physical activities. I am looking forward to instilling the same passion for the outdoors in our campers!
